Santa Clara 2010-2035 General Plan Update | City of Santa Clara
Program Environmental Impact Report

Santa Clara is both a 21st century City with leading high tech companies occupying modern buildings and a historic community rich in cultural heritage.  Today, the City is home to Levi’s Stadium, home of the San Francisco 49ers, and global companies like Intel, McAfee, and Nvidia.  But the City is also the location of Santa Clara University (founded in 1851), the historic Mission Santa Clara de Asis (1776), and prehistoric Native American settlements.

The 2010-2035 General Plan Update enacts policies designed to guide future development in the City of Santa Clara, while protecting the cultural resources that help provide the City with its unique character we appreciate today.  DJP&A assisted the City of Santa Clara in developing the General Plan Update and carefully mediated growth with protection of cultural resources.  One notable aspect of the Environmental Impact Report (EIR), prepared by DJP&A, is that it forecasted the City’s future greenhouse gas emissions based on quantitative modeling for the years 2020 and 2035 per State GHG goals.  The EIR also identifies strategies and measures that the City could undertake to limit its greenhouse gas emissions and contribution to climate change.

Principal Project Manager Akoni Danielsen led the consultant team effort to prepare the EIR, in close coordination with the City of Santa Clara and other local agencies.

  • One of the first General Plan updates to include a greenhouse gas element in context to AB 32 and Executive Order S-3-05.
  • Carefully mediates future growth with protection of invaluable cultural resources.
