Kurt Schlyer | Project Manager

Kurt has over 20 years of experience preparing and managing CEQA and NEPA documents for large infrastructure and energy, residential, commercial, mixed-use, pipeline, surface water and basin-based development projects throughout California and other areas of the United States.

One of the most interesting projects Kurt worked on was the cumulative request for 135 erosion control permits for the conversion of numerous vineyards in the County of Napa. Based on a lawsuit filed by Sierra Club and the court’s ruling, Kurt worked closely with the County and the County Attorney to prepare the environmental analysis of the vineyard conversions on an individual and watershed basis. The focus of the analysis was the impact of erosion on vineyard conversions on property with over 5% slopes. Kurt’s responsibilities included document preparation, client presentations, budget and cost analysis work, project schedule, sub consultant coordination, and general management duties.

Kurt earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Design, Environmental Planning from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He also studied in the Master of Urban Planning Program at UCLA where he focused on courses in environmental law and mathematics in planning.

In his free time, Kurt enjoys tennis and spending time with his family. He can be reached by phone at (408) 454-3437 or by email at KSchlyer@davidjpowers.com.
